From the Photographer:

Thanks for visiting; I hope these images inspire you to want to experience the world with a new perspective. My own travels and alpine adventures led me to want to re-express my experiences in some creative way. I do that through writing and photography. In 1999 I was fortunate to join the Silver Queen Flight, a re-enactment of the 1919 traverse of Africa from England to Cape Town, to coordinate an incredible educational journey. This appeared in the May 2000 National Geographic and jump-started my photography interests in a more intense way. I am grateful to Pete McBride and Matthew Bresler for their friendship and inspiration on that trip. Overall, I have managed to stumble through about 30 countries now, and returned to many wonderful places over and again.

I was raised by creative, hard-working parents who were both well-regarded classical musicians at the top of their field. I want my photography to be like visual music; to draw from life's experiences something emotional and present it visually. Sometimes it is about bringing home the experience of a place not many people can get to, or attending to moments in the periphery that not many see.

I was born in Canada, raised outside NYC, attended the Green Meadow Waldorf School through High School and Brown University for college. I moved to Boulder at first just to go climbing, but found much more here to keep me. I lead a bit of a renaissance life: I have run a non-profit for a while, taught Physics and Mathematics in Waldorf Schools around the country, am an entrepeneur doing design/build on some real estate projects, and do Web Design and Development at Trakkware, Inc.
